Would my Bianchi Via Nirone 7 bicycle be suitable for a 500 mile ride from Amsterdam to somewhere in France?
To be attempted at the end of April over 2 weeks along the long distance cycle routes of the Netherlands and the roads of Belgium and France! I will have a rack and panniers on the back but be packing as light as possible. I believe that the Nirone frame is suitable for longer rides than the average road bike due to the geometry but do you more experienced riders out there believe it to be up for the job?! I don't think that the distance over that time frame would be too challenging either with a few days of stopping off in various places. Any general advice tips, places to see along the way also welcome! thank you!
You shouldn't have any problem. You need to stay in shape over the winter by ridding you bike on a trainer or using an exercise bike. Get the gear you need now and train with a loaded bike. Too many people start out with too much stuff they don't need. You don't want to find out your feet are hitting the panniers a few days before the trip. If you can ride 50-70 miles easily you will enjoy the trip a lot more and have plenty of time for site seeing.
