What can I do to increase the range of my electric moped?

I have an electric moped right now with a 500 watt motor. When I ordered it the stock batteries were 2 12 volt 12 amp batteries. Recently one of them died, so I need to get a new one. But my question is if I bought a battery with a larger amp rating or voltage, would that increase the range of my moped.
Also would increasing the amp rating, increase the speed and/or power of my moped.

So basically if i get a 12 volt say 35 amp battery, other than another stock 12 volt 12 amp battery, it will not damage my moped and i will get a longer range?

Yes your assertions are correct, however you need to be aware that higher amp batteries are almost always heavier, physically larger, take longer to charge, and are significantly more expensive.
If you want to increase your range at no extra cost, change your riding habits. Ride slower, brake less, accelerate slower, take corners smoother, turn it off when not being ridden, don't put the headlight on during the day, etc. etc.
